We are a small Capoeira group in Nyack, NY starting classes in April 2025
Instrutor Pescador (Alex) started learning martial arts at the age of five. He practiced Karate as a kid and Taekwondo as a young adult, attaining a second degree black belt before starting his journey in Capoeira. In 2006, his mom talked him into trying a Capoeira class in Cedar Falls Iowa. The first time he experienced a roda, the circle of Capoeira, he was captivated by the blending of live music and playful martial arts. He has been a practitioner of the art ever since. Pescador loves the sense of community among capoeiristas across the country and has always enjoyed visiting other groups and learning different styles of Capoeira. He has taught classes in Sedona Arizona for kids and adults, at the University of North Carolina for a student club and most recently has been teaching a kids class for Cai Na Capoeira in Tarrytown. Pescador has been a Nyack resident since 2017, where he has been raising his family and working as a high school Special Education Science Teacher. Now he is ready to share his knowledge of Capoeira with the community.
Pescador began working with kids through his Capoeira classes in 2011. That experience inspired him to begin working in summer camps and substitute teaching while going back to school to become a Science Teacher.
Pescador is a student of Professor Pedrinho, who is a student of Mestre Cícero from Campinas, São Paulo, Brazil.
